Tery ko bht parny waliii haii PTI media cell syy |0||0|
Since day 1 my stance has been that PTI is nothing but a modern burgerfied version of MQM, I have grown in MQM area during the 80's and 90's, many of the people i used to play street cricket with ended up being unit in-charges, i have seen the energy and street power of MQM, during my college days in order to survive you had to take cover of either APMSO, PSF or Jamiat, i have first hand seen phadda's when Govt College For Men Nazimabad (my college) came under attack by PSF and Jamiat units from Jinnah, Saifi and other colleges. So unlike other people i first hand know what MQM was/is, my cousins have died in such stupid fights between MQM and other's, I have a reason to like and dislike things about MQM.

PTI idiots cannot bear to take any criticism like MQM or PPP people, they called Karachities Zinda Lash yet they themselves are zombies, you say a thing against their beloved holy IK and they get down to personal insults (which by the way is trend highly appreciated by IK)

I despise IK and the kind of politics and trend he has started and pampered and top it all he does it in name of being all naik parveen and under the banner of Riasat-e-Madina, Allah ka azab hu iss munafiq par

Pakistani Journalist Home Safe After Abduction That Lasted 12 Hours
July 22, 2020 00:41 GMT

Kaneez Sughra, wife of prominent Pakistani journalist Matiullah Jan, shows a picture her husband to journalists.

A prominent Pakistani journalist known for his criticism of the military has returned home after being kidnapped in Islamabad one day before he was scheduled to appear in court over a tweet critical of Pakistan's judges and military.

Matiullah Jan, who was found safe 12 hours after being abducted on July 21, told Pakistan’s private TV channel Geo News he was blindfolded and taken to an unknown location after being shoved into the assailants’ car.

He said he was then driven around the city before being released in Fateh Jang, about 45 kilometers outside the capital.

A close friend and fellow journalist, Azaz Syed, published a photo of Jan after his release.

Jan, a freelancer who has worked for local and international news outlets, was due to appear in the Supreme Court this week after the court took notice of the alleged contemptuous tweet, the newspaper Dawn reported.

Khawaja Asif, a former foreign minister and senior leader in the opposition Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N), held a news conference to condemn Jan’s disappearance.

Jan “has talked about media and journalism,” Asif said, noting his court hearing on July 22. “To take him into custody now is an attempt to silence him and his journalism,” Asif said, according to Dawn.

He said the PML-N would support people who are targeted after speaking against the government, adding that the manner in which journalists have been silenced in Pakistan “does not happen in civilized societies.”

Jan was abducted by several unidentified men after they intercepted his car, his colleague Asad Toor said.

Footage from surveillance cameras showed men dragging a driver out of a vehicle and pushing him into another car before driving away.

“There were more than five people – some in civilian clothes, others in black uniforms – who forcibly picked up my husband,” Jan's wife, Kaneez Sughra, told AFP.

She said her husband had been followed by unknown men in recent weeks.

Information Minister Shibli Faraz also confirmed the journalist’s abduction, according to Dawn.

Leading politicians, activists and journalists had called for the journalist's release on Twitter, with the hashtag #BringBackMatiullah trending in the country.

Jan, who has worked as a print and broadcast journalist for the past three decades, has been intimidated, harassed, and attacked in the past, his friend Azaz Syed said.

He was fired by Pakistan's Waqt TV station, allegedly under pressure from the military, which has been a frequent target of his criticism.

A spokesperson for the military declined to comment on Jan’s case.

Pakistan’s military plays an outsized role in the domestic and foreign affairs of the South Asian country of around 220 million and critical reporting of the institution is not tolerated.

Journalists and bloggers inside Pakistan have complained of intimidation tactics including kidnappings, beatings, and even killings if they cross a red line in their reporting on the military.

Several Pakistani journalists were briefly detained in recent months, allegedly by the military's spy agency, in what is thought to be an attempt to silence criticism of the powerful military.

The military has denied the accusations.

Zilhaj moon not sighted, Eidul Azha to be celebrated on Aug 1
Javed Hussain | Imtiaz Ali
Updated 21 Jul, 2020

The first day of Eidul Azha will be celebrated across Pakistan on August 1 (Saturday), Central Ruet-i-Hilal Committee Chairman Mufti Muneebur Rehman announced on Tuesday evening.
The announcement was preceded by meetings of the moon-sighting committee and other zonal committees in all provincial capitals of the country.
In a notification, the religious affairs ministry said that the Zilhaj moon had not been sighted and 1st Zilhaj, 1441AH would commence from July 23.

In June, Science and Technology Minister Fawad Chaudhry had stated the nation will celebrate Eidul Azha on July 31.

In a tweet, the minister said the Zilhaj moon would be visible over Karachi and nearby areas on July 21. “The Ruet app may also be used to ascertain the exact location of the moon,” Chaudhry had said.

The Zilhajj moon could not be sighted today. Eid-ul-Adha will be celebrated on 1st August 2020 in Pakistan.

Today, Ruet-e-Hilal Committee gathered at Karachi’s Meteorological Department to sight the Zilhajj moon. The purpose of the meeting was to clarify when to celebrate Eid-ul-Adha in Pakistan.

As the moon could not be sighted today, the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee has come to the conclusion to celebrate Eid-ul-Adha on 1st August 2020.

This time, Fawad Chaudhry’s technology shook a bit in front of Mufti Muneeb-ur-Rehman.
Earlier, Minister of Science and Technology s Fawad Chaudhry claimed that the Zilhajj moon will be seen in Pakistan on 21st July around 10:33 pm.
— Ch Fawad Hussain (@fawadchaudhry) July 21, 2020

Chaudhry still is not ready to accept the decision of Ruet-e-Hilal Committee to celebrate Eid-ul-Adha on 1st August.
According to details, the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee has said that the moon could not be sighted due to thick clouds. In response Fawad said,
“If there were clouds, how could be the moon sighted?”
He went on to say,
“The scholars should decide whether technology is forbidden (Haraam) or not. If people can pray by looking and the time, then why moon cannot be seen by technology?”
He concluded by saying,
“The Zilhajj moon has already been sighted in Pakistan, you can watch its location on the Ruet App.”
This is not the first time when Fawad Chaudhry proved the technology right. The final decision of celebrating Eid-ul-Adha is yet to be finalized after Fawad’s statements.

My question to GoP is, How can you let someone with such poor eyesight be head of the moon sighting committee?

Pehle Mufti muneeb aur popalzai ka muqabla hota tha ab popalzai ki jgah ch. Fawad ne ley ly hy ?.
On a serious note what a shame, govt has no rit on anything. No one is answerable here. I remember once there was an Eid on three different days. Pathetic governance.
