War against ISIS

I think everybody agrees that this needs to be stopped, the real question is probably how and who by?

Is it up to countries such as the US and the UK to intervene just like we have done countless other times around the world, or is this a war that the middle east needs to take on. No country wants to go on a full-scale all out war with IS, I don't even know if that's possible to do as they seem to have a foothold in a few different countries.

I think we could do a fine job as the enemy is a lot more clear this time around. The problem of course is when they start hiding with the civilians, which they inevitably will. I think it is too easy to simply say let it be. At the same time I really don't want another war with these savages we have been dealing with. It really is a no win situation either way.

It certainly is a no win situation, especially as far as countries like the US and UK it is anyway. How many times have we intervened in a situation only to be told we shouldn't have gone in and caused more harm than good?

On the other hand though, if we don't go in then we get accused of sitting back and doing nothing. This time let's see if countries in the middle east can stand up and fight against terrorism. While I'm not saying stand back and watch the region implode, maybe it IS time though to only step in as and when help is asked for?

Yes that sounds like the most logical way to do things. Kinda like it is now too, you have western units supporting the locals, mainly through the air. That way we are helping but at the same time casualties are going to be very limited. It's going to be interesting to see what the middle eastern military alliance thing will resemble if they ever get it working.

I think a more reasoned approach is required. Tactics like calling this group barbarians is exactly how we create more members for them. You are doing their work. I am not opposed to using military force to oppose them. I am opposed to the sort of emotive language that does nothing more than rile people up. Most of the world already agrees that what they are doing is wrong and they need to be stopped. We need to figure out how to accomplish that. Anger is not a great catalyst for clear thinking., and that is all this sort of rhetoric accomplishes. People in destitute parts of the world who have no idea what is really happening in other areas are very swayed by someone coming in and using anger (and headlines that make them seem sub-human) to make otherwise good people think that maybe ISIS is doing what it has to do. Like it or not, you have to deal with the whole world.

Hell no. I think it's now time that the whole world spoke with one voice and said enough is enough. We will no longer tolerate such heinous crimes perpetrated by a bunch of cowards who are foolish enough to carry out such barbaric acts on innocent children. Their days are surely numbered. May God hear our cries.

I think they need a good "talking to". This has gotten way out of hand and gone on for way too long. What do they have to do before someone is willing to step up and "talk to" them? Anyone else would have been smacked down in the beginning. What makes them any different from anyone else?

How are we going to deal with this without declaring war? Obviously, I don't want to go to war at all but what other realistic options are there? Negotiation/mediation is clearly going to be useless but things need to stop. Does anyone feel as though there is an alternative to going to war at all?

The ME alliance isn't going to do anything. The US created a vacuum in Iraq and shall be the one responsible to clean the mess it created.

With everything going on at once right now, no one is concentrating on the biggest issue which is how the issue spreads and gains moment enough to become harder to solve. The Ukraine, Yemen, ISIS, Boko Haram, Al-Qaeda.... and many more. There is also the danger of over stretching. If the nations become over stretched in trying to solve all these issues at once, then they become ineffective in solving them completely. All that will happen is that they will place a band-aid over the wound.

Wow, even now we resort to propaganda messages. That is actually a very good representation of the situation. They are using these new recruits to die in suicide bombings while they sit pretty unwilling to die for their own cause. These young fools are being mislead into believing in a cause that is not only unjust but against Allah/God and his word. Every time I think about ISIS I remember that video I posted of the little old lady pleading with those ISIS members to "come back to God" and speaking out against ISIS. She was a very brave and spiritual woman.

Unfortunately, I have to agree. If we didn't want any part of this we shouldn't have fought Saddam in the first place. That being said I think getting rid of Saddam was probably the right answer since he was doing acts of war on the level of Hitler/Stalin. It was the way we went about it that messed things up in my opinion.

Ugh. No wonder violence begets violence. Murdering helpless children who happened to be born as Christians is not something religious adults would do. Only monsters are capable of committing such a dreadful act. Take them out with a hundred or so fighter planes. It doesn't matter how UN and the NATO will do it. Those villains need to go down... There seems to be an argument as well that its the fault of the US and the UK in particular that the middle east is in this mess in the first place as our actions in the last, as led to what is happening now.

For one, I don't think the leaders at the time, or anybody for that matter could have predicted what's happened in the region since the threat of sadam was wiped out. As with most military action, there will be a consequence but to say the mess the middle east is in now is directly our fault is a bit of a bold statements to make.

IS is just like a mask of powerful countries and behind that mask is a country that is powerful enough to control the IS group. I dont believe that IS is just as simple as that yet powerful to create a global terror. There must be a support from outside government for it to work. IS is a simple group yet it has big impact on the world. IS is a group of terrorist controlled by powerful countries. I dont think they can sustain the power and equipment within themselves. Someone out there is funding the group - i just hope it is not America. i have watched lots of conspiracy theories and i have this fear.
