In modern world since second world war all countries survive in wars are only who have strong air defence through fighter jets, SAMs , anti aircraft guns, strong radars , misslie sheilds , and UAVs.
Even in 1965 we won the war because of our air force, they broke the backbone of iaf. And in 1971 our eastern wing of air force was too weak to defend the east Pakistan so result was against us. Imagine if we had 5 squadrons of PAF in east Pakistan along with a lot of ammunition and air to air missile, wouldn't the iaf face the same fate of 1965 west Pakistan war.
So we have to buy each and every system to make strong defence.
