Someone took my rant about a sub-project of a carrier borne Project Azm seriously? Like, if you're going to make your own twin engine jet, why not make a carrier variant too? Plus China will soon start mass production of a CATOBAR carrier design, one should take advantage of the economies of scale.
At last we will be getting a class of long range heavy hitting fighter that has always been missing from the PAF inventory.
J-11 progressed into J-16.
J-11 was also based on SU-27, China wanted to buy SU-33 but negotions broke down. Russia wanted to sell atleast 50 planes but China was not willing to pay the price for a plane whose production had ended. So they bought a prototype from Ukraine and made it into J-15, initially it had lots of issues. The WS-10 did not have the required thrust and was not able to cope up adverse environmental issues faced as see. But China persistence paid dividends.
A J-10B flew in 2018 with WS-10A engine with thrust vectoring capabilities, so it should be used on JF-17 BLK 3
I agree but JF-17 BLK3 most likely will have a bigger air frame.
bro @Khafee as bro @TsAr explained few details about J-15s I think this is also because of Russians , China didn't bought J-15s original jet Su-33 from Russia and also because it is carrier based so this jet will be great at sea levels or we can say great for Gawader or we can say to protect China's investment so Russians have no issues ….. I think PAF will operate them but they will come as Pakistan Navy Air Wing..
, WS-10 can't fit into Thunder due to it's bigger diameter and length. One can only dream for PAF planning to induct Medium Weight Thunder by 2023-24 as it's enough time i guess (?) just like Gripen turned to BlockC/D medium weight and the legendary tEjAs on papers has an MK2 which was showcased on Aero India 2019 as being a medium weight fighter. PAF must do that given that we fail to get a F-16 strength of atleast 110-125, it would be very competant force against india air force and their so-called mythy might would be nowhere seen. If we do get F-16s, then no need for further blocks of thunder, rather we must proceed of fast paced development of Project-AZM as well as consider J-31/TFXIf not block III the block IV (Next Gen JF-17 just like Gripen-NG) will surely have bigger airframe (enough big to fix WS-10 in it )
