Chemical attacks are the worse. They not only cause issues at the moment and kill, some chemical attacks can cause problems for years. And that is not just to the people being attacked with it, but the land and life in the area where it is used. Do we know how many were effected by the chemical attacks Scorpion or what areas?

Palestinians push back ISIS in Damascus camp: monitor

Palestinian fighters and Syrian rebels retook control Thursday of large parts of a refugee camp in Damascus that had been seized by ISIS group jihadists, a monitoring group said.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said a number of armed groups in the Yarmuk camp in south Damascus “were able to regain control over all of the areas that ISIS had taken over.”

The militants had overrun the camp on Wednesday, raising fears for thousands of civilians inside and giving ISIS a potential beachhead inside Syria’s capital.

But armed Palestinian groups, backed by local rebels, launched a fightback later in the day.

“Syrian rebel groups entered the camp and helped the Palestinians push back ISIS in fierce clashes,” said Rami Abdel Rahman, the head of the Observatory.

Anwar Abdel Hadi, director of political affairs for the Palestine Liberation Organisation in Damascus, said ISIS had been pushed “to the periphery” of the camp.

He said Aknaf Beit al-Maqdis, a group loyal to Palestinian movement Hamas, had clashed with IS overnight.

Six people were killed and 17 injured, he said, but he could not provide details on the toll.

The Britain-based Observatory said ISIS still controlled “some areas” in the camp and put the death toll at three.

The UN agency for Palestinian refugees, UNRWA, said it was “extremely concerned” about the safety of civilians in Yarmuk.

“UNRWA estimates that there are some 3,500 children among the 18,000 civilians living in Yarmuk. The intense armed clashes put these children at risk of serious injury and death,” UNRWA spokesman Chris Gunness said.

Yarmuk, located only about six kilometers (four miles) from downtown Damascus, was once a thriving home to 160,000 Palestinian refugees and Syrians.

But it has been devastated by fighting and a tight blockade imposed by the army nearly two years ago that created dire humanitarian conditions.

Syrian rebels seize Jordan crossing from govt control

Syrian rebels seized a border crossing with Jordan from government forces on Wednesday, the leader of one of the rebel groups and a security source on the government’s side said, the first time Damascus has lost it since the start of the conflict.

“It has been liberated,” said Bashar al Zoubi, leader of the Yarmouk Army, one of the mainstream rebel groups in southern Syria that was involved in the offensive. “The crossing is with us,” he added, in a message sent to Reuters via Internet.

The security source said government forces had pulled out to a nearby base. “The Syrian army withdrew from the Nasib bordering crossing,” the source said.

Hours before, Jordan had closed its main border crossing with Syria amid fierce clashes between rebels and pro-regime forces for control of the post.

“The ‘Jaber’ border post has been temporarily closed to travellers and goods,” Interior Minister Hussein Majali told AFP.

The closure, he said, was a “preventive measure to safeguard the lives and security of travellers due to the fighting underway on the other side of the border.”

A monitoring group said earlier that heavy fighting had erupted Wednesday when Syrian rebels including Islamists launched an attack on the border crossing, known as the Nasib post on the Syrian side.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said the rebels had besieged the post and were facing air raids and rocket fire from regime forces.

The post is the last remaining border crossing with Jordan still in the hands of Syria’s regime, as it battles rebels who launched an uprising against President Bashar al-Assad in 2011.

Seems the fight back and regaining control is working. They are really pushing ISIS out of their area, one city at a time. Guess ISIS is not as BA as they thought they were. LOL

We should help the rebels by providing an air cover and support.

They will perform much better than Yemeni tribes if they get air cover. Iran wont be able to intervene, but Syrian regime may try destroying as much as it can before falling. But the concern is international community. They will not welcome it in private. And I don't believe it's possible that one FSA splinter group will be armed afterwards to fight all Islamist ones. I wouldn't like that myself, I'd rather have the other movements in control.

Air support will be against Assad and extremists if it happened. It will stupid to act against Assad and leave Qaeda affiliate groups and Da'ash behind.

Work against Daeash but leave others because there are hundreds of Islamist groups there. It will cause power struggle and further make Syria worse. Probably many will defect to AQ in that case and it could threaten Jordan.
