Yup. They were augmented. We still had a few F-6 squadrons. During the standoff, we quickly re-equipped 2 sqns with most probably PLAAF J7MG.

The News reported that China dispatched five ships to Karachi in the span of about 10 days in December 2001 to step up the supply of new aircraft, spares and other defence equipment. The ships were loaded with cargo ranging from cartons of unassembled brand new combat aircraft and a variety of air force-related weapons and equipment. The brand new aircraft were believed to be F-7MG aircraft which Pakistan had ordered earlier. Pakistan ordered two squadrons, about 40-50 aircraft. The timely delivery of new planes from China enhanced the capability of Pakistan Air Force (PAF) by several squadrons of brand new F-7 fighter aircraft narrowing a 1:2 ratio of air force planes between India and Pakistan. India had about 800 out of which 715 are combat ready aircraft, Pakistan's had a strength of 400. The new deliveries increased PAF strength to 450.

AZM was FGF+ Stealthy MALE UAV + some weapons ( perhaps).
1.What about the other parts of AZM? Any leaks
2. Do AL Haider and Boomers are also part of AZM or separate projects?
( can some knowledable senior member do the thread on Navy's acquisitions?)
3. What about our own BVRAAM and air defence system?
4. Any chance of our own chopper ( JV/TOT/ Indigenous)?

That was one of the turning point of China whixh uptil then was building 3rd gen aircraft to 4.5 gen planes. You see a leap from J8/JH7 to J10, then finishing up SU33 and then J20 within 20 years.

While even India’s elite fighters could face a disadvantage against China’s new J-16, J-10C and J-20 jets in the air, the S-400 will provide an asymmetric means to target them reliably and at very long ranges.
